There is more to being a photographer than just being a photographer.
There are few things more important in life (to me at least) than education. Education is something you can never lose once you have it or have taken away from you, once it’s yours, it’s yours for good. But you don’t need to go to college or university to get an education. You simply need to read. But not just read what supports your ideals; that can be dangerous. More importantly, read what challenges your beliefs and opens your mind to new values and experiences. Photographers suffer from G.A.S. or Gear Aquisition Syndrome thinking that the latest and greatest new lens or camera will improve their images. But in truth, learning and practicing will do more for your photography than a new lens. A good book gives you a new perspective, so is usually the best place to start.
These are just some of the books that I have read that I would recommend to anyone. They are presented in no particular order, except the photography stuff first of course.
